This red indicates that there is no base armour behind it (sometimes its not very accurate, just try shooting as central as possible when aiming at a Sheridan). The red highlighting on the hull is that 6mm spaced armour box. Its upper plate, upper side armour, and upper rear armour are all protected by a 6mm box. Note the the Sheridan’s whole hull is covered in spaced armour.
